Rory quits Derry for Aussie move
RORY Patterson has become the latest player to quit the League of Ireland and head Down Under as he's signed for lower-league side Cockburn City.
Capped at senior level by Northern Ireland, Patterson (inset) was one of the top strikers in the league in his three seasons with Derry City, scoring 61 goals in 92 games.
But he was transfer-listed at the end of last season as Derry try to trim their budget for 2015, following their failure to qualify for Europe.
And after looking at his options the Strabane native has decided to head off and sign for Cockburn City, who play in the Western Australia Premier League, a league which has welcomed a number of Irish players in recent seasons.
