Relegate should be star of the show for Mullins
Champion Bumper winner Relegate (2.05, Naas) should be the star of the show on a good card at Naas today.
Willie Mullins remains quiet with his runners but of the three he has in professional races today Ruby Walsh will just ride Relegate in a race where the five-year-old will have to be at her best.
A repeat of the Cheltenham winning form from last March would be enough to see Relegate open her account over hurdles after something of a dramatic debut over sticks where she finished third but was promoted to second.
Jessica Harrington's Barrington Court has changed ownership since her win at Navan and will pose a big threat to the selection.
But with the benefit of a run over hurdles under her belt, it would be a surprise if Relegate didn't oblige.
The Kildare Now Beginners Chase on the card is also likely to throw up a few pointers for later on in the season.
Carter Mckay will have his first start for Gordon Elliott since joining from Willie Mullins, while A Plus Tard is interesting for Henry de Bromhead and Cheveley Park Stud with experience and a four-year-old age allowance.
However, it is the Mullins-trained DUC DES GENIEVRES (1.35, Naas) who looks the pick.
Without a win for Mullins last season, the five-year-old held good company through the season and should have enough to land this beginners' chase.
Pat Fahy couldn't have his team in better form at the moment and DROP THE ANCHOR (12.30, Naas) is another to join McManus since winning a bumper and can make a winning start for the owner in the first.
