Rachel relishes life on Firhouse Road

ONLY two clubs have completed the Dublin five-in-a-row - Marino in 1996 and Ballyboden St Enda's this year.

Like in Dublin hurling, it's unlikely that it will be achieved again. The standards have evened off so much.

The two semi-finals confirmed that. St Vincent's just edged out Na Fianna, while Lucan Sarsfields gave Boden a run for it.

It was Rachel Ruddy that held aloft the Maura Brady Cup.

She was a knuckle away from the Brendan Martin Cup.

She is a wonderful athlete. And she is the very essence of what keeps the Boden clock ticking.

She knows she is in good company. "We have a special group of girls, and also a special management team," she acknowledges.

"Richie Sweetnam is our manager and over the five years he never missed a match or a training session. We are just fortunate that we have such a committed management unit."

Richie, Bernard Curtis, Nuala O'Sullivan, Philip Larkin and Peter Lucey would say the feeling is mutual.

No team has ever won six senior championships in succession. Can Boden now make history. And get one over on their men!
