Parnell's Panther proves a big hit

THE Parnell's Panther has come alive in Dublin 5. He has just launched the Parnell's Summer Camps, sponsored by the Coolock/Artane Credit Union.

They will run for seven weeks over July and August. "No week will be the same," promises Kieran Murphy, the club's juvenile vice-chairman. "It's good value at 30 euro a child, with family discounts. There will be trips to Croke Park and to Tayto Park."

The Panther will be a popular figure in the locality. "He'll be helping to raise the profile of the club in the schools, supermarkets and at events like bag-packing. "Legend has it that he will bring good luck to anybody that sees him.

"We believe he is descended from 'An Cath Sith', the legendary mythical cat that roamed Ireland and Scotland.

"The building of our new clubhouse and grounds must have disturbed him from his lair, but he's very friendly!"
