Warne blasts Oz media over Broad

AUSSIE bowling legend Shane Warne has slammed the Australian media over their handling of English bowler Stuart Broad at the first Ashes Test in Brisbane.

And Cricket Australia is also keen to stamp out infantile behaviour aimed at Broad.

It has issued an official warning to potential pitch invaders after the overwhelming response to a man's claim he will tackle the English bowler at the St Stephen's Day Test if he receives 50,000 Facebook ''likes''. He already has more than 100,000.

Broad is public enemy number one at the Gabba after his refusal to walk in England's first Test win at Trent Bridge in July. He is not being acknowledged by Brisbane's News Limited newspaper in a bid to get under the lanky speedster's skin.

Broad has taken the paper's stance with good humour, even arriving at Thursday's end-of-play press conference with a copy tucked under his arm after destroying Australia's top order.

But Warne has not been so forgiving, saying the ''horrific'' coverage may inspire England to a fourth straight Ashes series win, despite their amazing collapse in their first innings.

Warne said: "The Australian papers – we've been the worst media, the worst print media, for a long time."
