Saints coming for Killester

The play-off picture is almost clear as the regular season draws to a close in the National League this weekend.

In the Nivea For Men's SuperLeague, DCU Saints have ensured home advantage in the semi-finals and on the evidence of their recent 92-58 hammering of Bord Gáis Neptune, they will take some beating.

Tomorrow, they take on old rivals 11890 Killester, who have guaranteed second place in their conference and a home quarter-final tie. It's Saints who hold the bragging rights so far this season after recording two wins against Killester.

Elsewhere, UCD Marian have third place sewn up and are likely to face a daunting quarter-final tie away to Neptune.

Tomorrow, they will be hoping their recent improved performances continue against Southern Conference champions UCC Demons.

The only real uncertainty is regarding the second and third place in the Southern Conference but a win for Neptune in either of their games with Demons and Moycullen this weekend would ensure Mark Scannell's side would enjoy home advantage in the quarter finals.

Neptune revealed earlier this week that former Killester star Michael Bonaparte has been drafted in as persistent injuries continue to sideline Ron Thompson.

Bonaparte enjoyed a productive stint with Neptune last season and head coach Mark Scannell will hope his arrival will give the club the spark they need.

In the Nivea Women's SuperLeague, UL will be crowned regular season champions if they avoid defeat by Team Montenotte by less than 18 points tonight. If the unthinkable does occur, then UL can wrap it up when they take on Ulster Rockets tomorrow.

Team Montenotte will finish second in the conference, while DCU Mercy and Killester have wrapped up third and fourth place respectively.
