Nicolas Roche was in Denmark last weekend representing Ireland at the World Cycling Championships.
But next Wednesday he'll be at the inaugural Tour of Beijing, which starts and finishes at the 2008 Olympic Stadium, nicknamed the Bird's Nest.
The five-day event is part of the UCI World Tour and has attracted 18 Pro Teams to the Chinese capital.
Matt Brammeier, the current Irish Road Race/National Time Trial champion, will also be in action.
Roche said: "I was lucky enough to ride in the Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing. I lived in the Olympic village and, unfortunately, I have not seen much of this city.
"I have high goals for this Tour of Beijing," Roche said.
Roche won't be returning to Beijing for a holiday, though, as he has his sights set firmly on an overall victory after an impressive performance in the recent Vuelta a España, where he finished 16th overall.
