SPAIN'S Alvaro Quiros warmed up for the US Open with a hole-in-one today - at a par four.
Quiros, Europe's biggest-hitter four times in the past five seasons, aced the Olympic Club's 288-yard seventh with his driver.
"It could count a little ridiculous, but it was an excellent shot," said the 29-year-old, who had a hole-in-one en route to winning the Dubai Desert Classic last year.
He would have preferred this one to have come in the championship rather than in practice, of course, but at least he was playing a match against compatriot Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at the time.
"You need to have luck to play good golf I think. Unfortunately it was in a practice round, but it's a good sign, isn't it?"
