O'Sullivan admits top 16 fall was in his sights

SNOOKER: Ronnie O'Sullivan admitted part of him had looked forward to dropping out of the top 16 after continuing his upturn in form by knocking home favourite Mark Williams out of the Welsh Open.

"No-one wants to drop out, but it would've been a challenge to qualify for the World Championship and I was looking forward to it," he said.

O'Sullivan, who won 4-1, will play Judd Trump in the quarter-finals after Trump wasted little time in dispatching Stuart Bingham 4-1.
