Neptune go in for Kill'

11890 Killester will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face an in-form Bord Gáis Neptune tonight in the Nivea for Men's SuperLeague.

The Dubliners suffered a double overtime loss away to Belfast Star in their last outing. The defeat was all the more surprising considering the Dubliners dominated the early exchanges and held a handsome 29-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

It's been an inconsistent couple of weeks for the reigning champions, who will be desperate to make up for their exit at the semi-final stage of the National Cup to claim league honours in March.

assignment

However, this weekend they face a Bord Gáis Neptune side who are on the back of four wins out of five in the league.

Their defeat during that spell was a one-point loss to DCU Saints. Their American, Ron Thompson, has also proved a fine addition, averaging 24.47 points per game this season.

Northern Conference leaders Saints' fine season took a slight dip last weekend after their loss at UCC Demons and they face another difficult assignment on Saturday against recently crowned National Cup champions UL Eagles.

The Eagles showed no signs of complacency as they brushed aside the challenge of Moycullen on their return to league affairs with their Irish international Jason Killeen contributing an impressive 30 points and 34 rebounds.

Belfast Star ended their long wait for their second win of the season against Killester at the weekend. Their first three points of the season came against today's opponents, Moycullen, in November and they will be hoping to inflict more woe on the Westeners.

UCD Marian will be keen to have a new American in on time for their clash away to Demons tomorrow. Marian's summer US recruit, Donnie Stith, has left the club and the Students will be keen for a replacement as they look to end a disappointing run of form.

In the Nivea Women's SuperLeague, the game of the weekend is the meeting of UL and DCU Mercy, which is a repeat of the recent Women's SuperLeague National Cup Final, and the Dubliners will be keen to going some way to atoning for that loss.

Tomorrow, Oblate Dynamos will be looking for a much-needed win at Brunell.
