Monks behind winning habit as EuroCycles trio ride high
No doubt about it! Manager of the EuroCycles team Herbie Monks delivered the goods for the sponsors as his team did it in style by taking three of the top positions in the Cycling Ireland rider rankings.
Adam Armstrong of Eurocycles was the top-ranked cyclist in the country. He won the title by a margin of 36 points from Sean Lacey of the Edge CC and Thomas Martin of Eurocycles, both of whom finished on 106 points in joint second place.
Of the top eight in the standings, Lacey was not accredited with recognition for the national team despite being the winner of the Subway Classic League over a series of races.
Murphy Surveyors/Apex Builders' Gareth Enright is the top man in the A2 category.
He bounced back this year with a win in the An Post Gorey Three Day, which helped his accumulation of points.
The return of Brendan McLoughlin of Blarney CC to the ranks of cycling after an absence of a number of years saw him take the A3 class.
Lakeside Wheelers' Damien Shaw struck gold in the Ballinrobe two-day, three stage event, even though he was considered one of the rank outsiders, which helped him take the A4 category.
