Match-fixing investigations

After eight years in Serie A, Catania were relegated last year. This season they finished just two points off the relegation play-offs. Now, the club president is one of seven people arrested in Italy by police investigating allegations of match fixing, fraud and bribery in Serie B. Police, who used surveillance techniques, claim payoffs of €10,000 were made to players to influence results. Catania is in Sicily.
