Marian in need of cup heroics

The regular season concludes this weekend in the Nivea For Men's SuperLeague with Belfast Star and UCD Marian fighting it out for the final play-off place on offer in the Northern Conference, while UL Eagles, UCC Demons and Bord Gáis Neptune are also in a three-way battle for the top spots in the Southern Conference.

In the IrishSport.TV Women's SuperLeague, UL, Team Montenotte Hotel Cork and Black Forge Oblate Dynamos continue their preparations for the play-offs.

TODAY

Nivea For Men's SuperLeague

UCD Marian v 11890 Killester

UCD Sports Centre (7PM)

UCD must repeat their National Cup final heroics against Killester if they are to stand any chance of reaching the play-offs.

Marian occupy the third and final play-off spot in the Northern Conference but they must win and hope Star lose both their games this weekend if they are to sneak through. Killester will be keen to deny Marian progress after the surprise National Cup loss to the Students in January.

Belfast Star v BG Neptune

De La Salle College, Anderstown (7PM)

Star will be hoping to wrap up that third place finish in the Northern Conference when they welcome fellow play-off chasers Bord Gáis Neptune. Star's shock win at Killester last time has left them favourites to reach the play-offs ahead of UCD Marian.

Neptune continue to fight UCC for second but it is likely Pat Price's Cork side charges will have to settle for third and an away tie in the quarter-finals.

Moycullen v UCC Demons

Kingfisher Club NUIG (8PM)

Demons' hopes of claiming the Southern Conference took a blow at Killester in their last tie but expect them to beat Moycullen and secure that second place finish.

Moycullen's improvement continued in terms of performances against Neptune and they will be hoping to sign off their season in style this evening.

IrishSport.TV Women's SuperLeague

Team Montonette Hotel Cork v Waterford Wildcats

Neptune Stadium (6PM)

Cork will be looking for a morale boosting performance as they get set for a huge play-off semi-final with old foes DCU Mercy.

Wildcats are on the back of a fine win at Meteors but they miss out on the play-offs and will have to settle for fifth place.

UL v Black Forge Oblate Dynamos

UL Arena (7.30PM)

Dynamos will be desperate to bounce back from their hammering at Mercy, while UL have showed no signs of letting up since securing the Regular Season trophy.

TOMORROW

Nivea For Men's SuperLeague

Ulster Elks v Belfast Star

University of Ulster HPC (2.30PM)

Elks will be keen to follow up their historic win over Danny Fulton's side in the National Cup earlier in the season. If Star slip up against Neptune, they should need maximum points from this game.

UCC Demons v UL Eagles

Mardyke Arena (3.15PM)

It appears likely that UL will secure top spot in the Southern Conference, while Demons will enter the knock out stages from second.

Eagles should have Cameron Mitchell.

DCU Saints v BG Neptune

DCU Sports Complex (3.30PM)

The Saints have been superb in 2011 but they will be wary of a Neptune side who beat them by 10 points when the sides met in December.

IrishSport.TV Women's SuperLeague

Meteors v 11890 Killester

Coláiste Eoin/íosagáin (3PM)

This winner of this basement battle will determine who'll avoid finishing the season bottom. Killester's season has been dogged by injuries, while Meteors have used the campaign to blood new talent.
