Larkin final obstacle for holders Kylemore

BASKETBALL: At next week's finals at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght, Kylemore College will be looking to retain the boys' junior shield with Larkin Community College standing in the way of back-to-back titles.

Kylemore's intermediate team, led by the impressive Michael McDonnell, are up against Coláiste Dhúlaigh, with Anton Banaghan calling the shots for the Coolock School, in the title decider.

The Ballyfermot college also lock horns with Dhúlaigh in the boys' minor final after Kylemore beat the defending champions Larkin CC in yesterday's qualifiers.

The Kylemore girls' intermediate team face tough opposition against last year's winners Presentation Terenure with Sarah Fanning outstanding for the school.

Coláiste Dhúlaigh could taste double success on the minor front if the girls' team overcome a strong threat from Pres Terenure, who are looking to make up for losing out to Larkin CC in the 2011 minor final.

A new name will be on the girls' junior shield with Kylemore College and Larkin CC going head-to-head after the title holders Pres 'Nure failed to make it through.

The girls' senior team of Crumlin College, who beat Inchicore College in last year's final, return to defend their title against Coláiste íde of Finglas. The boys' senior event sees Coláiste Dhúlaigh face Rathmines College.
