Lacey out to connect four

It is no secret that Sean Lacey of Dan Morrissey/ Speedy-Spokes Cycling Club will be up for it tomorrow in the Tralee Bicycle Club's promotion of the Lacey Cup. Sean is a native of Tralee, but represents a Cork-based club.

Tomorrow, Lacey will attempt to make it four wins in succession in the event.

Sean's first win was in 2009, followed up smartly a year later. These wins were fashioned out of tactical nous and knowing when to deliver the final blow for victory.

But last year was another story when he was pushed all the way to score a narrow victory over Robin Kelly from Waterford CC.

The duo meet again tomorrow alongside 100-plus competitors who'll also have ambitions to shock the leading pair.

Kelly has the advantage of a win last week in a Co Kildare venue. But open competition is a hostile environment and could be a factor that might shift the odds in favour of Lacey.

Racing will commence from George Poff's Garage on the Dingle Road, Tralee at 12.15.
