Kilian's Piotrowski is the man in Malahide

ORIENTEERING: Maciek Piotrowski of St Kilian's CS Bray put in an assured performance to win the 5th/6th year category at the final round of the Leinster Post-Primary Orienteering League, held in Malahide Demesne.

Piotrowski raced around the 4.7km course in 25 minutes 37 seconds, putting him almost two minutes ahead of his school-mate Stephen Edwards.

In third place was Sam Treacy of High School, while winning the B race was Mark Harrison of Pleasants St Youthreach.

Transition year winner was Sean O'Malley of Castleknock, who had less than a minute to spare on Conor Noone of St Peter's Dunboyne.

Rockbrook's James Cannon had a narrow 2nd/3rd year win, with his schoolmate Ruairi Long best of the 1st year boys.

Jesslevette Lopez lead a St Kilian's Bray clean sweep in the girls' 5th/6th year category. Her time of 33:24 for the 3.5km course put her over a minute clear of team mates Miriam Verdon and Ann Marie Edwards. Rachel Smith of St Peter's Dunboyne was first on the TY course, with Katie Brown of Castleknock a clear winner on the 1st/2nd year course.

Boys -- 5th/6th Yr -- A 4.7km: 1 Maciek Piotrowski (St Kilian's Bray) 25:37. B 3.6km: 1 Mark Harrison (Pleasants St Youthreach) 46:18. TY 4.5km: 1 Sean O'Malley (Castleknock CC) 23:40. 2nd/3rd Yr 3.6km: 1 James Cannon (Rockbrook) 21:30. 1st Yr 2.7km: 1 Ruairi Long (Rockbrook) 17:03.

Girls - 5th/6th 3.6km: 1 Jesslevette Lopez (St Kilian's Bray) 33:24. TY 3.6km: 1 Rachel Smith (St Peter's Dunboyne) 27:37. 2nd/3rd Yr 2.8km: 1 Katie Brown (Castleknock CC) 28:24. 1st Yr 2.7km: 1 Jean O'Brien & Niamh Mulrooney (Castleknock CC) 27:01.
