Jill strikes 12 as Pres' retain title

THE National Basketball Arena in Tallaght hosted last week's SCC VEC basketball finals with Presentation Terenure, Larkin Community College, Kylemore College, Coláiste Dhúlaigh, Rathmines College and Coláiste íde taking home the silverware.

Pres' retained their intermediate crown with an impressive 24-12 win over Kylemore College.

Jill Rogers' personal 12-point haul helped seal back-to-back titles for the southside college. Rogers also won the MVP award.

Pres' had earlier got the better of Coláiste Dhúlaigh 14-10 in the minor girls decider.

Larkin CC celebrated a unique double claiming the junior boys and girls junior titles with impressive showings against Kylemore College. Larkin's Halvinho Desallas, who took home the MVP, and Malcolm Chikarakate were powerhouses in their 12-2 victory.

In the closest game of the day, Coláiste Dhúlaigh narrowly defeated Kylemore 15-12 (aet) in the intermediate final. Dhúlaigh's captain Anton Banaghan's massive three-pointer in extra-time broke Kylemore hearts.

Kylemore had got off to the perfect start with a 14-7 win against Coláiste Dhúlaigh in the boys minor final.

The senior boys title went to Rathmines College with a 33-29 victory over Coláiste Dhúlaigh. Netsiyanwa Hillary, Babin Pierre and Hassan Balogun were influential for Rathmines.

Coláiste íde defeated the reigning champions Crumlin College 34-20, with Laura Ryan being instrumental in íde's senior girls success.
