Hot-shots Tobin and Huggard smash 500

SEAN TOBIN of St Michael's and Julianna Huggard of St Columba's College shot more than 500 at the Leinster Schools Indoor Shoot at St Columba's College, Dublin.

Tobin's score of 522 was just two off the total he shot last November and enough to win him grade 'A' over Oisín Cleary of St Michael's, who was slightly below his best with a total of 474, but still getting ever closer to the 500 mark.

This pair will be joined in grade 'A' next time by Huggard, who despite missing a lot of practice in recent weeks, shot a brilliant 504 to win Grade 'B' and earn promotion.

Shooting up the ranks is Megan Bryer of Gael Scoil de híde in Roscommon. Since taking up archery last October, Bryer has made steady progress, winning grade 'D' last December and the clear winner of Grade 'C' this time with a stunning total of 453, which earns her promotion to Grade 'B'. She also won the junior hot-shot.

Ross Murphy, part of an expanding group of archers from Oatlands College, won the senior hot-shot.
