MOTORSPORT: Lewis Hamilton has described as "insane" the speed at which his Formula One career has flashed by as he prepares for his 100th grand prix this weekend.
Hamilton will hit the milestone in the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim on Sunday, becoming the 61st driver in the sport's 63rd season to join the ton-up club.
Now in his sixth year in F1, Hamilton said: "To think I've done 100 grands prix, it feels very unreal. When you're having a good time, time flies by, and the years have gone by very quickly for me."
Hamilton trails Ferrari's Fernando Alonso by 37 points in the drivers' standings.
Ireland must halt schoolboy errors
CRICKET: William Porterfield wanted Ireland to cut out the "schoolboy errors" against Bangladesh in Belfast today (5pm) as they bid to draw level in the three-match T20 international series.
"We were off the mark in all three disciplines of the game," admitted captain Porterfield as he reflected on Ireland's 71-run defeat in the opening game on Wednesday. "We didn't execute our plans with the ball and made a series of schoolboy errors in the field that probably cost us 15 runs alone."
Young guns hit Germans for six
BOXING: Ireland's young guns hammered Germany 9-2 in yesterday's Veles Cup round-robin clash in the Oblast region of Russia. European junior silver medallist Jason McKay, Colm Molloy, Gary Cully and Mike Gallagher all recorded wins and Ireland will meet Russia in their final match tomorrow.
Cook serves up emotional ton
CRICKET: Alastair Cook's 20th Test century was a special one for a clutch of emotional and personal reasons. The England opener knocked his century at the Kia Oval three days after attending the funeral of schoolboy friend and former batting partner David Randall.
"Every little landmark means something," he said, after ending day one of the Investec series against South Africa unbeaten on 114, with England reaching 267-3.
