Frampton prepares to storm America after Avalos bout
Bernard DUNNE and David Haye will be on the panel for ITV's live coverage of Carl Frampton's world title defence against Chris Avalos in Belfast on Saturday.
Frampton's manager Barry McGuigan (inset) knows his way around boxing promotion. His own title fight against Eusebio Pedroza in 1985 attracted 18 million viewers. Frampton's bout will be ITV's first live primetime boxing since 2008.
ITV boss Niall Sloane says: "Broadcasters go through periods when some sports work and some don't. The model that Barry proposed works. Carl is an exciting fighter."
Targeting the American market for Frampton, the promoter will also have veteran boxing analyst Al Bernstein at ringside.
US ring legend Michael Buffer, who's earned a reported €350 million from having trademarked his catchphrase "Let's get ready to rumble", will host the big fight and also act as master of ceremonies at the weigh-in at the Europa Hotel at noon on Friday, an event that's open to the public.
