Floyd mauls Pac's Clottey workout

FLOYD Mayweather Jr joined millions around the world in watching Manny Pacquiao totally dominate Joshua Clottey for 12 rounds, but he says he was not impressed.

"I think he got exposed as one- dimensional," said Mayweather, who promised to give the fans a much better fight when he takes on Shane Mosley on May 1.

"Pacquiao was punching the guy's arms for all the 12 rounds. And look at the way Clottey was getting through -- every time he threw something it landed.

"Then, at the end, Pacquiao was all busted up. When was the last time you've seen my face all messed up like that? That's the difference between an amateur and a true pound-for-pound boxer."

Most observers, however, praised the Filipino's high-energy performance and rapid combinations against an opponent who seemed more intent on survival than capturing the WBO welterweight title.

Clottey's trainer, Lenny De Jesus, could be heard pleading with him to "take chances" as he fell further and further behind on points. He landed some good shots, but far too seldom.

Sure, he blocked many of Pacquiao's punches on his arms and gloves, but a tight defence and a good chin will never be enough to win world titles.
