Dubs duo up for title
A THIRD consecutive all-Dublin Leinster Senior 'B' Cup Final is still a real possibility but three teams will look to upset the odds when the New Year's action kicks back off.
Coláiste de híde and St Kilian's DSD are looking to follow on from the latter's clash with St Kevin's CC last year and the success of Greenhills College over Kevin's 12 months earlier.
Provincial and national champions in 2010, De híde will travel to Wexford to face CBS New Ross next month looking to make it to a second final in four years.
The Tallaght school have had to suffer a long wait since they became the first team to reach the final four but they now know their opposition after New Ross saw off local rivals Ramsgrange CS in the last round.
Eric Banville was a hat-trick hero on the day in the Model County derby and he now has De híde in his sights.
Runners-up last year, Kilian's are also safely into the semi-finals after they received a bye straight through the second round.
They were due to take on Scoil Aireagail, Ballyhale, but a technicality with paperwork meant their opponents were ineligible to continue in the competition.
It is a pity for Aireagail, who already had impressive wins against Coláiste Pobail Osrai of Kilkenny and Coláiste Eoin, Hacketstown under their belts.
Kilian's must now wait until after the Christmas break for the winners of St Fintina's PP, Enfield and Coláiste Pobail, Rathcairn.
The two remaining quarter-finalists will battle it out for the right to challenge the capital charge.
Fintina's saw off O'Fiaich College, Dundalk and Drogheda Grammar School on their way to the last eight, while Castlepollard CC and St Paul's SS, Monasterevin were beaten by Coláiste Pobail.
