Deignan swaps Shack for new home

From one American team to another! Irishman Philip Deignan has moved on after a one-year stint with Radio Shack and Lance Armstrong.

Next port of call for the 27-year-old from Co Donegal is the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team run by Momentum Sports Group. The team took shape at the tail end of 2009 as part of the break-up of the OUCH Pro cycling team.

Philip may not feature next year in the likes of the Tours of Italy, France and Spain, but we will be able to follow his progress in the Tour of California, the Tour of Utah and a host of other top American events which will be on his itinerary for the season ahead.

And who knows, he could also be a double Olympic competitor next year in London.

While Philip may be dropping a division and entering the Pro Continental ranks, he can rely on wild card invites to major European events.

Such is the high esteem in which the Donegal man is held, invites to a couple of the top World Cup events can also be expected.
