Clondalkin is buzzing from International Open success

THE pitch and putt world is still buzzing.

The second Irish International Open was a box office smash.

"There was great quality. Only five shots separated the top 15 players in the gents section," stated National PRO Padraig O'Shea.

"It provided such a grandstand finish. The large attendance certainly enjoyed it," he added.

OUTSTANDING

Cork's Frank Dineen took the claret jug. "It was an outstanding win for Frank. He was under such pressure.

"On the final 18th hole, he needed two to force a play-off, and he delivered," added Padraig. In that play-off he beat Stephen Murray by a shot.

There was also plenty of calibre in the ladies section. Ireland's number two, Kildare's Chrissie Byrne, retained the title.

Dubliner Ger Ward was pipped for the runners-up prize by Tracey McGrath, the Erry eagle.

Also getting the applause was the host club, RGSC, a Clondalkin venue fit for kings and queens.
