On the brink
LUKE Fitzgerald is set for a sensational Leinster exit.
Talks between the Irish international and the IRFU are on the verge of breakdown after stalling over financial demands.
Leinster Chief Executive Mick Dawson said today: I don't know where it is going to go.
"The negotiations have been a long, very drawn-out and torturous process.
"There is no doubt with our ambition, where we want to stay and go in the game, we need to keep our best players at home.
"Luke is a very valuable part of what we do.
"I don't think anyone who has been following rugby over the last five or six years would be in any doubt about what a good player Luke Fitzgerald is," added Dawson.
The Leinster, Ireland and Lions star is now standing at a crossroads.
It is believed the IRFU have taken Fitzgerald's loss of form and fitness last season as reason enough to offer a 30% reduction in his contract from an annual €280,000 to €200,000.
