Much-Loved Bill Daly gets the President's Salute

BILL Daly was a treasure. The Leinster Senior Club Championship Cup honours his memory.

Leinster President, Marie Hickey, was one of his biggest admirers.

Bill built the Ballyboden empire. He trained the kids in the local schools to become All-Ireland champions.

He hailed from Cavan. He loved the game. He was one of the finest administrators of them all.

"Bill was absolutely incredible at so many different levels," reflects Marie, the President-elect of the Association.

"He made such an impact with his club, with Dublin teams, Leinster teams, All-Star selector, county board, Leinster and beyond.

"With Bill, you knew every job he had would be done properly.

"He had such knowledge. He had a wonderful memory. He loved to see young players making the breakthrough.

"He was so proud of the Boden girls when they were involved in the different Dublin teams.

"He enjoyed the schools competitions. And he was also involved in organising the Leinster schools competitions in the early days. He was just such a great all-rounder."

But even more important for Marie and for everybody that knew Bill was his personality.

"He was always so pleasant and approachable. He was a lovely man."
