McCarthy hopes Murphy can keep motoring for Tractor Boys
MICK McCarthy wants Ireland striker Daryl Murphy to carry on scoring and secure a place in the promotion play-offs for the club.
Murphy was on target in Saturday's 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, a win that means the Tractor Boys need only a point in their last league game, against Blackburn next week, to make sure of the play-offs.
It was a big goal for Murphy as that took his tally for the season to 25, the first Ipswich player to hit the 25-goal mark since 1963.
"He's had a great season, he wants to continue it as well. It's not finished yet," said McCarthy. "A point would seal it for us at Blackburn, whereas if we'd have drawn we'd have gone there looking for a win."
