Louis van Gaal to target Arturo Vidal in the January transfer window
MANCHESTER United manager Louis van Gaal is set to target Juventus' enforcer Arturo Vidal in the January transfer window - but only if the Chilean can prove his fitness.
Juve head coach Massimiliano Allegri has said Arturo Vidal is still not 100% fit and probably won't start against Cesena in tonight's Serie A clash.
The midfielder has been struggling with a knee injury for the past few months and only managed to play 14 minutes of Juve's 1-0 win against AC Milan at the weekend.
"Vidal is not 100% and needs minutes under his belt. I'll have to balance his work alongside the team and game time," Allegri said.
United were interested in signing Vidal during the summer but didn't submit a bid in the end because of Vidal's injury problems.
Reports in Italy suggest that United may make another move for Vidal in January as Van Gaal attempts to inject some steel into a side that was labelled "soft-centred" by former United defender Gary Neville after last Sunday's 5-3 defeat to Leicester.
