Kerry facing Tyrone battle

JACK O'CONNOR has just a week to recover from the shock of almost losing to Westmeath yesterday before tackling the greatest nemesis of his managerial reign.

Kerry have been drawn to face Tyrone, their conquerors in 2004, '05 and 2008, in round three of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers in Killarney next weekend in what is undoubtedly the tie of the round.

Mickey Harte has never lost a Championship match to Kerry in his distinguished stint as Red Hand manager and the prize for the winners is a crack at beaten Munster finalists Clare for an August Bank Holiday All-Ireland quarter-final berth.

Kildare, who hammered Cavan yesterday in Breffni Park, have also been given a home tie against Limerick, with the winners due to meet Sligo.

The clash will also feature former Kildare defender and current Limerick selector Brian Lacey taking on his old county.

Laois travel to Leitrim and will meet the losers of this weekend's Leinster SFC should they progress while Tipperary take on Antrim.

ROUND 3 (Round 4 draw in brackets)
Kildare v Limerick (v Sligo).
Tipperary v Antrim (v Donegal/Down).
Kerry v Tyrone (v Clare).
Leitrim v Laois (v Meath/Dublin)
