It is decision time in Senior Championship

NOT much time for elevenses next Sunday morning as the 'We Are Dublin' Senior 1 Championship approaches the last bend.

Group 1 is already parcelled and stamped. Ballyboden St Enda's and Na Fianna are into the semi-finals.

The door is still open in group 2. St Vincent's are the poll toppers on four points, but Lucan Sarsfields and St Oliver Plunkett's/ER remain in the frame.

Lucan and Plunkett's have two points each. On Sunday, Lucan travel to Raheny, while Plunkett's host Vincent's.

OVERCAME

So far, Vincent's have won two from two, defeating Lucan and Raheny, while Plunkett's have beaten Raheny, and Lucan overcame Plunkett's.

The top two from each pool progress to the last four. Last season, the semi-finals saw Boden beat Na Fianna and Vincent's defeat Lucan.

Boden went on to win the crown for the fourth time in succession. Themselves and Vins provided a Trinity topper at Drumnigh.

Richie Sweetnam and Shane Dalton have proven themselves to be two of the finest managers in the modern game.

Richie was a top 'keeper. He played senior hurling for Kilmacud Crokes. Shane played for the Dubs.

Both gents have been impressed with the rise in standard of the club game, and last year's final confirmed the quality and the conviction that's there.

It was one of the most compelling finals in years. And it went right down to the closing bell. Only a goal in it. The crowd loved every second.

And, at the start of Championship 2014, both clubs were keen to remain top of the tree and thus avoid each other in the semi-final.
