REPUBLIC of Ireland international Noel Hunt is hoping to extend his stay at Reading despite his lack of game time.
Hunt, whose current contract runs out at the end of the season, has scored four times in 16 appearances so far this season and revealed that he has been in talks with Royals' manager Brian McDermott about signing a new deal.
The 30-year-old (right) is not phased by the fact that first-team opportunities may be limited if he stays at the Madejski Stadium, and remains desperate to extend his four-and-a-half-year stay at the club.
"The gaffer spoke briefly about it the other day so hopefully we can start talks," Hunt said.
"I'll do whatever the manager wants me to do to keep this team in the league. I understand what the story is at the moment."
Hunt's prospects of breaking into Brian McDermott's first XI could be dealt a further blow if rumours that Reading are preparing to smash their own transfer record to sign Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas' by triggering his £8.3million release clause are proved accurate.
