Three horses who have won at the very highest level in Grade One races head the weights for the Galway Hurdle and that tells you all you need to know about the quality of this year's race.

The importance of keeping racing going is well documented at this stage but the positive impact it is having on the industry and the overall economy is massive.

Credit has to go to Galway for putting on the seven days of racing despite it resulting in a seven-figure loss for them and it's a Galway like no other but the prize money on offer this week will be pumped back into the sport and into rural locations all over Ireland.

I'm looking forward to the Galway Hurdle as it is always a race that you could watch on repeat and see different areas where the race was won or lost by a tactical move or just a horse not getting a run. Like most races in Galway, you need a bit of luck in running, especially with a field of 20 runners going a strong gallop on the hurdle track there.

As well as the top three in the line-up, Aramon, Petit Mouchoir and Felix Desjy, being Grade One winners, we also have last year's winner Tudor City in the mix, but I'm actually sticking with last year's winning jockey Robbie Power on WONDER LAISH (6.45).

Tony Martin is claiming off Tudor City, but I'm sure Robbie probably had the choice and it could be a shrewd move to stick with Charles Byrnes here.

Wonder Laish was third behind Aramon and Petit Mouchoir in prep for this and while he was beaten a fair way, he meets both horses on much better terms here and he can also be expected to improve for the run. I'm sure the bookmakers will take no chances with his price, but if I could pick one horse to ride in this race I think it would be Wonder Laish.

Crowd or no crowd, a winner at Galway for local connections would mean a huge deal and I'm hoping THE RUBINATOR (6.15) can go close today for my husband, Ross.

This horse is owned by the Monroes who run the popular bar in Galway City and they love to have runners and, of course, winners at Galway.

This year will have been strange for them in every sense but if this lad could run well it would be a silver lining and I think he can.

He hasn't run for a while but Ross has done plenty with him and while he may come forward for a race under his belt, I'd be hoping there is a nice prize in him.

He was going to win at Listowel last year before falling at the last on his first run for Ross so hopefully this is the first of a few good days with him.

Another popular local man is Tom Howley and he has claims later on the card with the Gordon Elliott-trained CHERIF DE L'ISLE (7.45).

There was to be a bit of rain overnight in Galway and that will certainly play to the strengths of Cherif De L'isle who got his head in front at Limerick last time out and may still have more to come on just his sixth start for Gordon.

BRAID BLUE (5.15) is another selection from the Elliott yard and he's one we haven't seen a whole lot in this country as Gordon has campaigned him a lot across the water.

On official ratings Doctor Duffy sets the standard but Gordon will know what it takes to win here this week and the fact that he's pitching this horse in here, to what is usually a decent beginners' chase, interests me.

Bryan Cooper looks to have a couple of good rides with VERY EXCELLENT (4.45) in the opener for Andy McNamara and then DIME A DOZEN (5.45) in the Grade Three novice chase.

Both won well recently and can score again today.

I get to ride a bit of work for Willie Mullins still and DEFINITE KATIE (8.15) is one I sat on recently. I liked her and if the rain comes I don't think it will inconvenience her.

She stays going and, with Jody Townend claiming 7lb off her, I wouldn't back against her as she gets a stone from stable companion Power Of Pause.
