With all that is going on in Ireland this weekend, the English St Leger at Doncaster tomorrow should not be forgotten about, and if Roger Varian allows Kingston Hill to take his chance on the ground he would get a tentative selection from me.

Roger has done a very good job with this horse in difficult circumstances as he just doesn't want the ground to be too quick. While connections were happy with the conditions at Doncaster yesterday, there will be a lot of drying there before race time tomorrow.

Doncaster were in a more fortunate position compared with the Curragh and Leopardstown as we have had a very dry spell here which has led to the ground getting extremely quick. Doncaster had heavy showers earlier in the week which made their task a lot easier.

Michael Stoute's Snow Sky is a horse I see as the danger as he impressed me earlier in the season, but I'd just be siding with Kingston Hill if he runs.

There are a couple of important trials in France over the weekend with Arc winner Treve expected to run in the Prix Vermeille, and I must admit that I felt for Frankie Dettori (pictured) earlier in the week when it was revealed that he would not be riding Treve in the Arc. Criquette Head-Maarek is very strong on her views and she always likes to maintain the status quo that she has in place.

With Thierry Jarnet being unbeaten on the filly you could see where it comes from and these things happen. But look, she might not win the Arc and Frankie may prove to be better off, you just never know!
