Take Flight and back Mystic to win at Newbury

There is some very competitive fare beaming into our living rooms this afternoon from Newmarket, Ripon and Newbury, and the latter is where we start with MYSTIC FLIGHT (3.00 Newbury) fancied to land the Laurent-Perrier Handicap.

Roger Varian's nicely-bred three-year-old hasn't let connections down in three starts to date, winning two of them, and he can take a step up on those making his handicap debut this afternoon.

On debut he won well here over course and distance, before he added to that success with an even more impressive win at Haydock second time up.

He hit the crossbar last time at Chelmsford on the all weather, finishing second under a double penalty, and he can make it three from four back on turf.

Already rated 95, it would come as no surprise were he to win at Pattern level, so this opening mark may underestimate his ability and he can win what does look an open race.

In the Hungerford Stakes, GUSTAV KLIMT (3.35 Newbury) can hopefully prove the well-being of the Aidan O'Brien yard by taking this Group Two affair.

Impressing

He drops down in class - and trip - for the first time since really impressing in the 2,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on his reappearance.

That will obviously hep his cause as he has been running with plenty of credit in all the big Group One mile races, and he will find these waters that little bit calmer.

He showed plenty of boot on that Leopardstown win so the step down in trip will hold no fears and he's a confident selection to regain the winning thread.

Earlier on the card, ANTONIA DE VEGA (1.50 Newbury) can back up her dazzling debut win by landing the Listed Denford Stakes to open the card.

Ralph Beckett looks to have another fine filly on his hands with this daughter of Lope De Vega and she looks to hold major claims receiving weight from the likes of Boitron and Good Fortune.

Finally, at Ripon, KIMBERELLA (3.15 Ripon) can give Oakley Brown his biggest career win in the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap.

Brown is excellent value for his 7lbs claim and he has been given an excellent chance of landing a big race by Richard Fahey.

This lad was a good winner at Chester last time in a Listed race and should go very well at a big price drawn well in 16.
