Power hoping to get Big Zeb nod

ROBBIE POWER is hoping Finian's Rainbow takes up his entry in the Queen Mother Champion Chase as he would then be likely to keep the ride on Big Zeb.

Power has ridden Colm Murphy's 11-year-old to victory in his last two starts as his usual partner Barry Geraghty has been unavailable.

With Geraghty attached to Nicky Henderson's yard, if Finian's Rainbow runs in the two-mile championship rather than taking up his options in the Ryanair or the Gold Cup, Power is likely to get the ride on 2010 winner Big Zeb.

"I hope Finian's Rainbow runs in the Champion Chase, which would mean Barry would have to ride him," said Power. "If Barry's not riding for Nicky Henderson then he will ride Big Zeb, but if he isn't I'm hoping I get to ride him.

"Colm has done a fantastic job keeping him right."

Big Zeb is a best-priced 5/1 with Stan James and Paddy Power to regain his crown.

Power has also not lost faith in Oscars Well - despite his winless start to the season.

Oscars Well has not looked like winning any of his three races this season, but Power feels the seven-year-old will not be seen at his best until he gets a sound surface and a fast-run two-miles - which is usually the case in the Champion Hurdle.

"What will suit him better at Cheltenham is that he'll get a strongly run two miles," he said.
