Planet is worth taking a chance on at odds of 4/1
TOMORROW'S Racing Plus Chase looks an awful lot more competitive now that Ted Walsh’s Seabass has bypassed the contest and Tom George’s Nacarat is now the current favourite.
Nacarat hasn’t won since Aintree, but is a Grade One winner and probably a worthy favourite. However, the Betting Book will take a chance with Planet Of Sound, who was last seen back in November when second in the Hennessy at Newbury.
The lightly raced 10-year-old has clearly had his problems and will have to give weight away all around if he is to win here, but is worth taking a chance on at around 4/1.
At Newcastle tomorrow the gruelling 4m1f Eider Chase is the feature contest and having won over 3m5f at Punchestown on heavy ground last month Irish raider Portrait King looks a live contender.
The last Irish winner of the race was the Charlie Swan-trained This Is Serious ten years ago, but Maurice Phelan’s charge appears to go there as the one the other ten runners have to beat.
At Naas on Sunday the PaddyPower.com Chase is the feature on the Cheltenham Trials Day and Tanquil Sea is likely to be a shade of odds on for the 2m contest after Willie Mullins opted against running Blazing Tempo.
The champion trainer now has no representative, leaving Ruby Walsh free to ride his father’s Seabass and although the trip is probably a shade on the short side, take a chance that he can continue his impressive winning run.
A tentative vote is given to Shot From The Hip in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Nas Na Riogh Novice Chase having ran well in Grade One company last time.
Tomorrow at Fairyhouse, the Bobbjo Chase is the feature contest and Shark Hanlon’s Alfa Beat is clear on ratings and should set himself up nicely for Aintree with a win here.
