Nothing is fixed in Bobs Worth's future

Future plans are fluid for former Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Bobs Worth after he was pulled up in this year’s renewal.

The 2013 blue riband winner saw the ground go against him following significant rain ahead of last Friday’s showpiece, which was won by Coneygree, and Barry Geraghty did not give him a hard time when his chance had gone.

In his only other run this season, the 10-year-old was eighth of nine in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown in December.

Part-owner Malcolm Kimmins said: “The Gold Cup was a tough race and they went terribly fast. He just got run off his feet and the ground was pretty bad. It was a funny result for a lot of the horses.

“It was disappointing for a lot of people, but none more so than us.

“It was a brilliant performance by Coneygree, although I don’t think a lot of us wanted the ground to change like it did.

“He did look well in himself before the race, but Barry pulled him up as there was no point giving him a hard race as he was never going to go that pace.

“Bobs Worth lives to fight another day and on we go. He has done so much for us, he doesn’t owe us much. I have no idea at the moment what the plan is. Nicky Henderson likes to give the horses 10 days off so we will see what the plans are after that.”
