After unleashing Douvan last Thursday champion trainer Willie Mullins turns to FOOTPAD (12.50, Thurles) to supply punters with the midweek treat today.

Mullins brings a strong team to Thurles today, as he does to most fixtures at this time of year, but the five time Grade One winning Footpad is undoubtedly the star of the show.

This season will be something of a revival mission for Footpad who failed to score in three attempts last term and his run in the Ryanair Chase was way below par but the Boomerang.ie Chase looks an ideal opportunity for him to get back to winning ways.

Daryl Jacob is over to take the ride as retained jockey to owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede and it would be a massive surprise if Footpad can't get his season off to a perfect start here.

Another Mullins runner that is sure to attract plenty of interest is ASTERION FORLONGE (3.35, Thurles) in the concluding bumper.

The five-year-old looked very impressive when winning his only start in a Point to Point at Oldtown last year and was subsequently sold for £290,000 to Mullins. He looked the real deal on that occasion and should be sharp enough to win his bumper at the first time of asking, now carrying the Gold Cup winning colours of Al Boum Photo.

There's every chance that Mullins could take the first and third races on this card also but Henry de Bromhead is just given the nod to snare both of these.

In the opening beginners chase SINORIA (12.15, Thurles) is the pick to see off Good Thyne Tara.

The latter was a Grade Three winner over hurdles and picked up more experience in that sphere but novices never lack for jumping emerging from Henry de Bromhead's and Sinoria could just be the one to keep on the right side of this afternoon.

Then in the I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Rated Novice Hurdle Mullins supplies the likely favourite Allez Dance but recent course and distance winner ROYAL THIEF (1.25, Thurles) looks a progressive type.

A second season novice, Royal Thief had a run over hurdles before going back to bumpers last season and won nicely here a fortnight ago and could back that up.

Attention then turns to Emmet Mullins who has booked Paul Townend to ride PERCY B SHELLEY (3.05, Thurles) in the Holycross Handicap Hurdle.

The latest Mullins to take out a trainers licence looks is making great inroads in his profession and this horse ran well on his first start over hurdles since joining from Noel Meade last time out. He looks up to winning a race like this.

UISCE SOLAS (2.00, Thurles) has been running to a fair level this season and is another who looks to have finally found a winning opportunity.
