Kuiper can Belt his rivals into touch after stewards' decision
We don't see too many races being lost in the stewards' room, particularly here in Ireland, but one who was disqualified recently and can make amends at Clonmel this afternoon is kuiper belt (3.10 clonmel).
Gordon Elliott's four-year-old was first past the post in the valuable Liam Healy Memorial Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel last month but had caused enough interference after veering right after entering the straight that it was deemed he had cost the second home the race.
It is obviously very unfortunate for connections of the horse but he is back in action today and can extend his 'winning' run to five.
Having won twice on the level, a win at Listowel would have also brought up a hurdling hat-trick and, despite being raised 5lbs here, he should have enough still in the tank to go in again.
One who won last time and didn't lose the race on a decision and can double up is GLAMOROUS NELLIE (4.15 clonmel).
Liz Doyle's likeable mare scored over course and distance here last time - and in blinkers, which remain - and the handicapper hasn't been too harsh on her.
She has only been raised 4lbs for that success, which shouldn't be enough to anchor her in a race where not a lot of the field are too prolific.
There are a couple of short ones in action and both should oblige this afternoon.
SHUSH (2.35 Clonmel) was surprisingly beaten last time but having won a Bumper today's step up in trip by half a mile will suit, while it's interesting that Barry Geraghty has been booked to help ROOM TO ROAM (3.40 Clonmel) get finally off the mark over hurdles..
