Kil' can Carry off glory for Ryan

Victory for KILCARRY BRIDGE at Cork tomorrow afternoon will be only very small compensation for John Ryan and his family after the horse came so close to causing a massive shock at Punchestown last month but hopefully he can get his head in front.

Kilcarry Bridge was sent on from the front by Danny Mullins in the big Grade Two chase won by Road To Respect and it was just in the dying strides that he got collared that day and his hurdle rating would look quite favourable if able to reproduce that type of effort tomorrow.

Racegoers to Mallow tomorrow will be treated to the seasonal reappearance of ON THE FRINGE who will begin his campaign much earlier than in recent years.

Nina Carberry is reunited with the two-time Cheltenham Festival winner and it will be interesting to see what Enda Bolger's plan is for the 12-year-old this season but anywhere near his best and he'll be way too good for these.

Noel Meade's CASK MATE begins over hurdles in the opening race after picking up a nice few quid in two bumpers this year and providing Carberry with her comeback winner.

Cask Mate won at Ballinrobe and ran well in a winners race at Down Royal so should be able to transfer that form to make a winning start over flights. Jack Kennedy may have preferred to be involved in the graded action at Punchestown tomorrow but his alternative was a good book of rides in Cork and the pick of those look to be SECRET LEGACY and DOCTOR PHOENIX for Gordon Elliott.

Secret Legacy has a similar profile to Cask Mate having won at Tipperary and then being placed in a winners bumper so he is expected to win the second maiden hurdle on the card, while Doctor Phoenix ran well behind the classy Ballyoisin on his first start for Elliott and can go one better now.

Kennedy would have another chance in the beginners chase when teaming up with Henry de Bromhead on MONBEG CHIT CHAT.
