Jockey O'Farrell has the right bookings

Gordon Elliott began the new Irish National Hunt season by getting among the winners yesterday and more are likely to follow at Ballinrobe.

The early season meetings are offering opportunities for professional jockeys who have ridden 15 winners or less in the last year and Katie O'Farrell is getting the opportunity to ride fancied horses for both Elliott and the champion trainer, Willie Mullins.

ROAD TO DUBAI (5.40) is the pick in the opening Connolly's Mercedez Benz Sligo & Galway Maiden Hurdle.

The five-year-old certainly showed signs of encouragement when having his first outing for Elliott following the move from George Scott and this looks a winnable opportunity under O'Farrell.

Road To Dubai's Irish debut saw him finish fourth behind the talented Fakir D'oudairies and a repeat of that sort of form would look enough here.

O'Farrell, who was one of the stars of the Jump Girls documentary aired earlier this year, later on the card rides CASTLE NORTH (6.40) for Mullins.

This is only the third start over hurdles for Castle North who has probably been a shade disappointing so far.

However, once again, the best of his bumper form would be the pick of this contest.

Elliott then turns to Brian Hayes for the 2m1f Supermac's Beginners Chase where GLOBAL JACKPOT (8.10) would be a tentative choice.

The point-to-point winner racked up a hat-trick over hurdles for Elliott last season and has the credentials of making a winning start over fences on what would be a rare ride for Hayes with this stable.

Arthur Moore and Niall Madden team up with the JP McManus-owned AT YOUR EASE (7.40) who is looking to make it two on the bounce.

A winner of a novice chase at Limerick when last seen, At Your Ease runs in the BetVictor Handicap Chase off a rating of 116, which looks reasonable and there could be more to come from the six-year-old.

The concluding Connaught Telegraph Bumper looks likely to be one of the more informative races of the day with a view to the future.

The betting might give the best guide to this and Coolagh Park is worth noting for Gordon Elliott and Jamie Codd.

However, the experience obtained by GOLAZA (8.40) last season should stand to him.
