It's time to Future Proof on heavy ground

Fairyhouse must survive an 8.00am inspection this morning with the threat of further rain overnight on top of 8mm they got yesterday.

The track is currently heavy and officials are hopeful that any further rainfall will be at a minimum if the seven-race card is to survive. Fairyhouse was fit for racing yesterday evening.

The threat of high winds and a Status Orange wind warning forced Punchestown to cancel their fixture yesterday but their track is raceable and that meeting will go ahead tomorrow afternoon instead.

It is going to be extremely testing conditions on the inside track at Fairyhouse if racing does get the green light this afternoon and none of the six runners in the feature Fairyhouse New Brand Rated Hurdle have winning form over hurdles on heavy ground.

The two-mile trip will surely feel like much further, but a chance is taken on Noel Meade's FUTURE PROOF (1.45, Fairyhouse) who did get through heavy ground to win on the Flat.

The Ross O'Sullivan-trained THEATRE WORLD (12.45, Fairyhouse) may be suited by the conditions and the drop back in trip shouldn't be an issue this afternoon as he looks to go one better than when second at Down Royal on St Stephen's Day.

Point-to-Point winner GALE AT SEA (2.20, Fairyhouse) is well bred and represents Paul Nolan, who is enjoying a good time of things lately. Few of her 10 rivals have form to boast about and Gale At Sea may make a winning start on the racecourse here under Bryan Cooper.

The bumper looks an interesting affair with some strong connections represented. The eye is drawn to STATTLER (4.00, Fairyhouse) for Willie and Patrick Mullins in the colours of Ronnie Bartlett.

Pat Rooney runs 14-year-old Witness Of Fashion today, but his best chance looks to be MLILY (2.50, Fairyhouse).
