Dream chance for Power to score
Herald columnist Robbie Power has every reason to be hopeful this weekend.
A winner at Ascot yesterday was a fifth winner of the week for the Gold Cup winning rider and as well as Lostintranslation at Haydock today, Power also has a strong book of rides at Navan tomorrow.
CHRIS'S DREAM (2.30, Navan) is a stand out chance in the Troytown for Henry de Bromhead and the increasingly prominent owner, Robcour.
If course form is anything to go by, Chris's Dream certainly stands out having won his beginners chase at the venue before returning to land the Grade Two Ten Up Chase with subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner Any Second Now behind on that occasion.
Gordon Elliott has seven runners and owner JP McManus will need eight different caps to differentiate his runners in the field. The Big Lense might be their best chance but Chris's Dream has the class to prove well handicapped here.
Earlier on the card, Power does team up with Elliott once again for ABACADABRAS (1.00, Navan) who is given the nod over stable companion Fury Road.
Abacadabras further enhanced the form of another stable companion, Envoi Allen, when winning here earlier in the month and the step up in trip shouldn't be an issue for this classy novice.
Joseph O'Brien enjoyed a good day at the previous Navan fixture and can start tomorrow afternoon by winning the opening maiden on ENTOUCAS (12.30, Navan) and in the same colours ENCORE LUI (1.30, Navan) can give jockey Mark Walsh a double.
I'M A GAME CHANGER (2.00, Navan) made a nice impression on debut for Elliott last time out, while BIGBADANDBEAUTIFUL (3.30, Navan) can round off another good day for the local trainer.
1.30 Encore Lui
2.00 I'm A Game Changer
2.30 Chris's Dream
