Art Obsession can pay dividends for Barron

Art Obsession can add his name to a long roll of honour by landing the bookies.com Carlisle Bell at the Cumbrian venue.

The race is one of the most historic in the calendar having first been run in 1599 and David Barron's Art Obsession is taken to be the newest name on the list of winners.

The four-year-old has obviously not been straightforward to train as he has only run six times with some lengthy absences punctuating those racecourse appearances.

Winner of one of his three juvenile starts, Art Obsession then claimed victory in one of two starts at three so clearly he has plenty of ability.

That impression was reinforced when he was beaten just a length and a half on his return from a near eight-month absence at Ayr last month.

Racing off a 5lb higher mark, he looked certain to improve for the run and given he has actually been eased a smidgeon in the weights, Art Obsession must hold a good chance here.

Comedy King can make the long trip to Carlisle pay dividends in the totepool Cumberland Plate.

Luca Cumani's charge is bred in the purple as a half-brother to top Hong Kong horse Viva Pataca and a full sibling to American Grade One winner Laughing, but he has not really matched up to their kind of levels.

Winner of a 10-furlong maiden last May, four subsequent starts have yielded little joy, although his recent fifth in a competitive event at York showed he still has something to give.

He remains on a mark of 83 and as he is still pretty unexposed, he is just the type to have a bit left in the locker.

Letters Of Note cut little ice in the German 1000 Guineas but a drop in class should see her back on the winning track in the British Stallion Studs EBF Eternal Stakes.
