The Battle of the Blues in Dungarvan yesterday. Two counties that have enhanced the history of the sport. On International Women's Day.

The Dubs were in town. Playing Waterford, a county who had one of the best teams the game has seen.

The Jackies now stand tall at the top of the charts. The three-in-a-row All-Ireland champions.

The going hasn't been as smooth for the Dubs in Division 1 of the Lidl National League, so yesterday's 4-5 to 0-13 outcome was welcome.

And the Dubs had to show spirit. Recovering from seven points down against an excellent home side.

The hosts led at the break, 0-10 to 2-2. Siobhán Woods and Noelle Healy scored the Dublin goals.

Carla Rowe tucked in the third goal from the penalty spot, with Sinéad Aherne adding the fourth.

Paul Casey was a decorated half-back with Dublin. Striding down the wing before crowds of 80,000 on Croke Park Sundays.

He's now a selector on Mick Bohan's crew, and Paul was more than pleased with the result.

"It was great to get the win. Waterford played well and took some fine scores," noted Paul.

"Our four goals proved vital. And they came at the right time. The goals made a big difference, and, with a bit of luck, we might have had a couple more."

Conditions were difficult. A bitter sting in the breeze and some showers.

"It was hard going for both sides. We are delighted to come away with the win. The players worked hard. They put together some nice spells of football."

The game saw the return of Sinéad Aherne to the county jersey. "It was brilliant to see her come back. And also the likes of Sarah McCaffrey, Noelle Healy and Siobhán Killeen," said Paul.
