Westmeath finish in style

WESTMEATH have never beaten their Royal neighbours in Leinster SFC action but they will fancy their chances of a shock when they take on Meath on June 28.

However, for an upset to happen Westmeath will have to find the form throughout that they exhibited in the last ten minutes of yesterday's 1-21 to 0-15 victory over Wexford at Cusack Park, Mullingar.

Two Kevin O'Grady points had the Slaneysiders 0-14 to 0-12 to the good with 13 minutes left but a goal from Kieran Martin in the 60th minute turned the game in favour of Tom Cribbin's outfit who outscored their opponents by 1-9 to 0-1 over the concluding ten minutes.

With the wind in their sails points from Ger Egan, Jimmy Dolan, John Gilligan, Denis Glennon, John Connellan and John Heslin set up their Leinster SFC semi-final against Meath in Croke Park next Sunday week (2.0) - part of a triple header (Dublin v Kildare, SFC, 4.0); (Dublin v Kildare, MFC semi-final, 12.0).
