The rain arrived for the second of the Dublin SHC quarter-finals in Parnell Park yesterday. The lights came on in the second half.

Mentors had to race on with towels. The good-sized crowd enjoyed the derby.

The Craobh were right in it coming to the last bend.

Chiaráin's always save their best for the championship, and they did themselves justice here.

Ciarán Hetherton was in their dugout. His son, John, was playing for Vincent's. A late spurt from St Vincent's took them home.

The All-Star, Alan McCrabbe, is still clearing the table.

Diarmuid Connolly also showed his class. He found more space in the second period. He landed a couple of gems.

A picture pass opened the door for his younger brother, Tom, to hit a fine point late on.

Craobh led 1-8 to 1-5 at the turn. Conor Burke struck the opening goal of the hour after Rian McBride's shot rebounded off the wood.

Craobh's goal came two minutes later. Robbie Mahon slipped a pass to Paul Kelly for a smart finish.

They were level on 1-10 apiece with seven minutes to go. Vins then hit the next five scores without reply.

Three points came from Tom Connolly, Rian McBride and former Dublin senior Ronan Fallon before Cian McBride hit their second goal on 56 minutes. He deserved it. He played a splendid match in the engine room. Pace and skill by the ton.
