True Blue Nicky has dream tickets for lucky entrants

OUT at the St Sylvester's Senior Football Championship game the other week, they were selling tickets for Nicky Cleere.

Nicky is a proud son of Malahide, as indeed are his three brothers Airy, Kian and Russell. Kian and Russell played in the handsome championship victory over O'Toole's.

Nicky first began playing senior football for the club when he was 17. He became a heartbeat of the side.

His ability and leadership skills were easy to see. He captained the Dublin minor footballers.

Sadly, a hit and run accident in Lisbon in November, 2009 resulted in serious injuries.

But Nicky is battling back with all the true grit he showed in the Syls jersey. And, happily, he has made tremendous progress.

The Nicky Cleere Trust was established to help his comeback. They have come up with two terrific prizes.

It's a chance to sample the two biggest days of the Croke Park year in the height of luxury.

Draw one is for the All-Ireland Hurling final. Draw two is for the All-Ireland Football final. The prize on both days is the use of a superb 15-person corporate box suite in Croker with lunch and refreshments.

Tickets cost a tenner. The closing date is July 30. The winners will be drawn at the St Sylvester's club on Saturday, August 18 (9pm).

The beautiful village of Malahide has produced many a champion over the years. And with his heroic ongoing battle back to fitness, Nicky Cleere has proved to be the champion of champions.
