Supple called up for Dubs

SHANE Supple has been added to the Dublin squad ahead of their O'Byrne Cup opener with Carlow this Sunday.

The St Brigid's captain and former Ipswich goalkeeper was in inspired form this year as he led the Blanchardstown club to the Evening Herald Dublin SFC title and has been rewarded with a spot on Pat Gilroy's extended training panel.

Supple was last involved with Dublin at the beginning of 2010 when he sat on the bench for the League opener with Kerry but was cut by management as they stuck with their first choice goalkeeping duo of All-Ireland hero Stephen Cluxton and St Vincent's custodian Michael Savage.

Supple lined out for the Evening Herald/Dublin Bus Dubs Stars selection last Sunday in Kiltipper Road at the annual Dubs Stars challenge whilst Savage minded nets for Dublin.

In the past, Gilroy has retained just two goalkeepers on his squad throughout the course of the season but the 24-year-old now looks set to get the chance to upset the established order.
