Super Salesian soar past Maynooth with late rally
SALESIAN COLLEGE 4-8, Maynooth PP 1-11
Salesian College, Celbridge scored three goals in six minutes in the final quarter to pull clear of Maynooth Post Primary in a thrilling Dublin Schools' senior A football semi-final.
Maynooth were two points up with 12 minutes to play but quick-fire goals from Ronan Byrne, Shane Ryan and Dylan Corcoran swung the game in favour of the Celbridge side.
Despite the tricky conditions, both teams served up entertaining fare and there were goals at either end from Neil Flynn and Craig Mooney in a first half that ended with Maynooth 1-6 to 1-5 ahead.
Both teams raised two white flags apiece in the early stages of the second half but when Ruairi Wynne and Chris Canning pointed midway through the half, it looked like Maynooth might pull clear.
They couldn't have expected what was to come though, and those three Celbridge goals proved the difference.
